This beautiful prestigious Victorian farmhouse has been tastefully restored and converted into a luxury country hotel. Located one and half miles from junction 16 on the M4 and two miles west of Swindon.
New hotel 10 mins from M4 Swindon with 18 hole golf course & full leisure facilities. All rooms en suite with Sat TV. Ample parking. Great views.
Formerly a Victorian school, this wonderful hotel, grade II listed, is the perfect place to stay. Close to Swindon, minutes from the M4 (J16), yet set in the Wiltshire countryside, on the borders of the Cotswolds.
Remains of an Iron Age fort set on an excellent example of chalk grassland. Set on an escarpment overlooking the valley and plains below. The Ridgeway National Trail runs through the site. Excellent views to be had North and South. Toilets on site and disabled facilities. The ancient earthworks known as Barbury Castle are about five miles south of Swindon and the M4, on the northern edge of the Marlborough Downs. The site, which lies within the Wessex Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and has been designated as a country park since 1971, is managed by the Swindon Services Ranger Team, part of Swindon Borough Council. The principal focal points of the park are the Iron Age hill fort, covering about twelve acres, adjacent round barrows, Celtic field systems and 18th-19th Century flint workings. Here the West Saxons are said to have defeated the Britons at the Battle of Beran Byrig in AD 556; and centuries later the area was a favourite haunt of Richard Jefferies, the 19th Century writer, who lived an hours walk away at Coate. The site is scheduled as an ancient monument.
