A 150-year-old mill, fully restored as a working windmill. Stoneground flour generally available for sale. Wilton Windmill stands high above the small village of Wilton near Marlborough, Wiltshire, providing magnificent unspoilt views of the surrounding area. The mill is the only working windmill in Wessex and was originally built in 1821, worked for 100 years and was restored to its former glory in 1976. It is managed and operated by the Wilton Windmill Society who operate the mill and provide guided tours.
The mill was built as a traditional tower mill with a fantail and 4 sails- two patent and two common canvas sails. The mill is fully operational, and produces small quantities of stone ground wholemeal flour for sale as a souvenir of your visit. Visitors may tour the mill when it is not milling by appointment. It is open for viewing from the outside at all times.
